Seema Lal is a principal of SHK Law Corporation with particular expertise in the areas of builders liens, construction law, commercial litigation and employment law. As a Vancouver-based construction lawyer, Seema’s clients include owners, developers, general contractors, subtrades, suppliers and design professionals. Seema assists her clients in the construction industry by providing advice on contracts, procurement, builders liens, construction litigation and disputes, including claims for extras and delay.
Seema is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Canadian Construction Women, the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association, the Vancouver Regional Construction Association and the Vancouver Island Construction Association. She is a member at large of the CBABC Construction Law Section, the Vice-Chair of the board of directors of the College of Denturists of BC and a cabinet member of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation’s “A Night of Miracles” gala.
Seema is a volunteer lawyer with Access Pro Bono and the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada’s Volunteer Legal Advocacy Program.
Seema regularly lectures and provides seminars to industry groups, both in-house and at various CLEs, including the Independent Contractors Association of BC, Affinity Institute and Pacific Business and Law Institute. She is also an adjunct professor at UBC for fourth year engineering students – “Legal Aspects in Engineering Practice” – her classes focus on company, labour and employment law.
